Biking Greece – An Iconic Ride to the southern tip of Lefkada
Ride Stats: Distance: 40km / Elevation Gain: 1200m / Calorie Burn: 2500
The lighthouse is located at the end of the southern peninsula of Lefkas and with stunning panoramic views, this ride is breathtaking in every way! After leaving the south coast village of Vassiliki, we take a short off-road climb onto the old provincial road to the hillside village of Agios Petros, where we stop in the square for coffee. From the village we take the main road for 2km before continuing the ascent on an off-road track heading south. We soon come over the top of the mountain ridge onto a plateau and the vast west coast horizon comes into view. The descent now begins on a loose rocky track which meets the tarmac road leading to the Lighthouse. Arriving at our destination, we are rewarded with vistas across to the neighbouring islands of Kefalonia and Ithaca.
After a rest we depart from the Lighthouse and conquer a continuous tarmac climb. It is then time to head east over the ridge on a mountain track which descends steeply into Vassiliki Bay.
